Funeral Mass celebrated at St Patrick's Church, Markham, 5633 Hwy 7, Markham, at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014. He was kind and generous and never turned down an opportunity for a good joke.įamily and friends may visit at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main St. Joe loved his family and friends immensely. He was an active and loved member of St Patrick's Parish Markham and thoroughly enjoyed his career of over 40 years at CP Rail. f there was something to be done, he did it happily. He was generous with his time: coaching teams, working spot lights for Ice Shows, building floats for parades, driving for the Cancer Society and Seniors or countless tasks with the Knights of Columbus. in the 1950's, met the love of his life, and he and Trisha settled in Markham in 1964. Joe moved to Ontario from his home in P.E.I. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lauretta Macdonald, and family members Eugene Macdonald, Ernestine and Eugene Kinch, Stephen Kinch, Jim and Jean Porter, Joyce and David Huntley, Linda Newell-Porter and infant grandchildren Grace and James Bartkiw. He will be missed by his siblings Marjorie, Joan, Eleanor (Paul) Handrahan and Philip (Roseanne), his sister-in-law Helen Rambo and brother-in-law Gerry Porter (Jill) and loved by many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and faith for his children Craig, Michael (Genevieve), Jackie (Greg) Bartkiw and Patti (Eric) Mikula, and his adored grandchildren Joseph and Elizabeth Macdonald, Andrew, Rebecca and Emma Bartkiw and Owen Mikula. Passed away suddenly and peacefully, surrounded by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia (Porter), his children and an abundance of love.
